Frequently asked questions about Iiro

Iiro is an Android app for planning trips, estimating arrival time and sharing trip progress with selected people. Plan by car, bicycle or walking, add stops and breaks, check the ETA and save useful places or routes.

No. Iiro can calculate and display routes, but it is not a turn-by-turn navigation app. Use a dedicated navigation service when you need driving, cycling or walking directions.

Yes. You can plan a route, add stops, include break times, change the planned departure time and check the estimated arrival time without starting a shared trip.

Yes. Intermediate stops can include planned stop time so the overall ETA can reflect breaks and other planned delays.

Yes. Save frequently used places for quick reuse. You can also save a complete prepared route, including intermediate stops and planned break times, and use it again later.

Current search can use country, city and distance from the current GPS location, show nearby results first and also let you select a place directly from the map.

Straight-line mode creates the trip directly between selected route points instead of using a road-network route. ETA is based on the direct distance and separate user-configurable straight-line speeds for each travel mode. It is a separate user-selected mode.

Yes. You can set default arrival and departure radii and override both for individual places. You can also adjust how many consecutive measurements are required before Iiro accepts a departure. The default is 3.

Partly. Saved places and routes are stored on the phone. Straight-line trips can be built locally, and a previously fetched identical road-network route may be reused from the device cache. Without sharing, GPS, ETA and trip-stage logic can work locally on the phone. Address search, new road-route calculations, map tiles and trip sharing still require network services.

Yes. You can use an optional nickname so the recipient can more easily recognize who shared the trip. A nickname does not create an Iiro account or login.

Start the tracked trip in Iiro, create a private tracking link and choose how and with whom to share it.

No. The recipient opens the tracking link in a compatible web browser.

Yes. The same private link can be shared with several selected people.

Depending on trip state, the viewer can show the map, progress, ETA, remaining time and distance, stops, current stage, speed, GPS accuracy, coordinates and phone battery level.

T displays timing information next to relevant route points in the current Android app and browser viewer. It changes presentation, not the ETA calculation.

They change the size of T time labels locally in the browser from 50% to 500%. This is a web-viewer feature, not a current Android feature.

Iiro is designed for live trip following, but network conditions, GPS and the normal update cycle can introduce delay. It is not a zero-delay safety tracking system.

No. Normal use does not require registration, email or login. Viewers do not need accounts either.

Yes. The actual shared-trip content is encrypted on the Android phone before transmission using AES-256-GCM.

The key is carried in the private # fragment of the tracking link. The browser can read it, but it is not sent in the normal HTTP request.

Yes. The complete link contains the information needed to open the trip. Treat it as private and share it only with intended viewers.

No. Shared live trips are temporary and are not a permanent account-based location-history archive.

No. Iiro does not use location data for advertising and does not sell personal data.

Iiro may limit address searches, route calculations or the number of simultaneous viewers when needed to keep the service reliable and reasonably available for everyone. Limits may change as service capacity and usage change.

Yes. Iiro relies on several network and supporting services, so features such as address search, road-network routing, maps or live trip updates may occasionally be unavailable or stop updating. If road-network routing is unavailable, straight-line mode may be an alternative depending on the situation. Iiro does not guarantee uninterrupted service or live tracking and should not be used as a safety or emergency location service.

The Android app currently supports 22 languages. The browser viewer is a separate component and should not be assumed to have the same language set.

No. Iiro is designed for intentional trip sharing by the person carrying the Android phone.

No. Iiro is not an emergency locator, safety system or official tracking service.

No. Iiro is a personal trip planning and sharing tool, not a taxi app, dispatch system, fleet-management service or commercial transport platform.

Yes. These are useful situations for the same Iiro flow: plan → ETA → start → share → follow. Iiro does not become a specialist navigation or safety service for those activities.
